    A postdoctoral position is available in the Colorado State University Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology Department.  The project will involve untargeted mass spectral analysis of host tissues isolated from animals infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis and targeted studies of the cell wall from M. tuberculosis isolated from infected lungs.   Individuals with good analytical skills and a strong background in mass spectrometry are encouraged to apply.  Qualifications include a Ph.D. in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry or a related field and experience with mass spectral analysis of biological samples.  Applicants must have an interest in metabolomic analysis and experience in this area is a plus.  Good communications skills and the ability to integrate into a team are also required.  To apply e-mail a letter of interest, curriculum vitae and the names and contact information of three referees to Dean Crick, Ph.D., Director of the Mycobacteria Research Laboratories in care of christine.bartholomew@colostate.edu by February 3, 2012 for full consideration.     We are seeking a qualified Post-Doc in Dr. Nichole Reisdorph’s Laboratory at National Jewish Health in Denver, CO.  This Research Fellow will provide research and analysis support for proteomics and metabolomics projects within the National Jewish Health Mass Spectrometry facility.  Primary focus will be on biomarker discovery for an NIH funded COPD project and asthma research. Performing quantitative proteomics and protein identification experiments, including sample preparation, mass spectrometry, and data analysis, on cultured cell lines, primary cells, and biofluids. Conducting metabolomics experiments using mass spectrometry including sample preparation. Performing bioinformatics studies, including network analysis, with a focus on metabolomics. Installing and maintaining software programs as they relate to research projects. Performing method development on a variety of biological and clinical assays. Attending educational courses/seminars at outside institutions as they relate to specific proteomic/mass spectrometry techniques. Preparation of research manuscripts and research presentations and assistance with grant submission.

    M. D.; or, Ph. D. in biology, chemistry or other basic sciences required. Requires a minimum 2 years of experience in liquid chromatography mass spectrometry. Experience in LC/MS, proteomics, or metabolomics absolutely required.  Strong background in computer systems, including programming, desired.  Experience with biostatistics and molecular biology are preferred.  Must be willing to learn and develop new techniques as required by research projects.
